TER Plant & Equipment Training Course

 Course content

The course has been designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and expertise to feel confident when dealing with plant & equipment.

Day One is based at the TER offices in Bath. The course begins by looking at the nature and extent of equipment theft, and focuses on the links to criminal activities and the techniques used by criminals.  You will be taught ways to recognise suspicious plant transporters and the plant and equipment as they are being moved as well as what to check for once a vehicle has been stopped.

You will be shown the various types of identification plates, how they are fitted to the equipment and how they are made. You will look at plant terminology, including “street” slang and the various sources used to obtain true equipment and ownership information.  We also look at proactive and reactive security techniques and safety aspects.

Day Two starts at a local plant yard where you will examine plant machinery and its principal identification features.  Finally you will return to the TER offices for the end of course evaluation and examination, certificates will then be issued to successful candidates.  

There are ten places available on each course. Lunch on both days and the evening meal on Day One are included in the cost of the course. A list of suitable accommodation is available from TER. Please bring fluorescents and safety boots.  Hard hats will be provided.
